The Colossi of Memnon are two massive stone statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III. For centuries, they have stood in the Theban Necropolis, located west of the River Nile from the modern city of Luxor, Egypt. In ancient times, the statues were known as the "Living Statues" because locals believed that they could hear them speak at dawn. Today, they are a popular tourist attraction.
